Africa Datasets in DAFNE

A dataset of gridded downscaled climate data was produced for the Zambezi River Basin and for the Omo-Turkana Basin as part of the DAFNE project.

Data Description

Basics: Data were generated for the two basins using the AWE-GEN-2d model for the present period (1976-2005) and future period (2020-2099). The climate ensemble consists of 30 realisations and include the following climate variables: rainfall, near-surface air temperature, shortwave radiation, cloud cover, relative humidity and near-surface wind speed. The future simulations are following the multi-model mean of 22-26 climate models derived from the Africa-CORDEX initiative. RCP4.5 is simulated for both catchments, and in addition RCP8.5 is simulated for the Omo-Turkana basin.

Resolution: Data are in geographic latitude-longitude (WGS-84) coordinates at a 8-km and hourly resolution.

Format: The data format is NetCDF, with a separate file for every variable, year and realsiation.
